    Confirm units and dimensions

STL does not reliably carry a unit definition in every workflow. Open the file in the viewer and confirm that the millimetre dimensions match the intended size before relying on an estimate.

    Repair the mesh

Look for open surfaces, non-manifold edges, intersecting faces, and duplicated internal bodies. A watertight, sliceable model reduces analysis failures.

    Review manufacturability

Check minimum thickness, small details, and clearance between parts. Explain the intended use when fit, strength, or load direction matters.
